Guidelines

  1. Only three (3) teams from each institution will be allowed to compete in the event.
  2. Registration for NDSSC 2019 is a prerequisite for participating in the event.
  3. Only 2 Presenters are allowed to make the presentation.
  4. Each team will have ten (10) minutes for presentation, followed by two (2) minutes for question and answer session.

Rules and regulations

  1. All presentations must be in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 and above in wide screen format (16:9).
  2. Please ensure you drop by the Speaker Preparation Area at the start of the Conference, and upload the presentation in the prescribed format.
  3. Please note that there are often formatting inconsistencies between Mac and PC versions of Microsoft Office, so please ensure you have vetted your presentation on a PC prior to the start of conference.
  4. Please ensure that you have a copy of your presentation on a USB as a backup.
  5. Please be in the presentation room assigned no less than 30 minutes before the start of your session, and identify yourself to the person in charge.
  6. The slot and venue of the presentation will be update later.

Rules and regulations

(A) Poster dimensions:

  1. The size of the poster should be A0 – 84.1cm (width) x 118.9cm (length) or 33.11inches (width) x 46.81 inches (length) or 0.841m (width) x 1.189 (length).
  2. The posters must be displayed in portrait orientation.
  3. Please do not exceed these dimensions – posters that do not fall within size limitation cannot be posted.
  4. Please be advised to use standard professional format/style/presentation.
  5. It must be as visually appealing as possible by using a font size that can be read from an arm’s length from the poster.
  6. Please display the conference logo on the right hand side of the poster and your institution/university logo on the left hand side of the poster.
  7. The poster should have a matt finish. Glossy finish must be avoided.
  8. An adequate margin of 1 inch should be ensured in the poster

(B) Content:

  1. The content flow should be in portrait form (top to bottom).
  2. The title should be displayed at the top of the poster.
  3. Please do not exceed these dimensions – posters that do not fall within size limitation cannot be posted.
  4. Author names and their affiliations should be below the title. Only five (5) author names should be displayed.
  5. The poster contents should be in the following order:
    • Background/Introduction
    • Aims and Objectives
    • Methodology
    • Results
    • Conclusion
    • References (Vancouver style)

(C) Mounting and dismounting:

  1. Presenters are responsible for mounting their posters during the designated times, which will be assigned before the conference.
  2. Posters should be attached to the poster boards with double sided tape or pre-stick only, which will be provided to you.
  3. Presenters should be responsible for their posters and should make sure they are taken down by 18:00 on 27th April 2019.

(D) Flyers and handouts:

  1. An A4 size handout of your poster or a handout with the key messages of your poster with your contact details will be helpful to share with interested delegates.
  2. We will not allow handouts or flyers to be left on the floor around the poster display.
  3. We will not be providing envelopes or sticky tape for this purpose; the presenter must bring their own needed accessories.

Guidelines

  1. This quiz will be conducted as part of NDSSC 2019.
  2. Registration for NDSSC 2019 is a prerequisite for participating in the event
  3. A maximum of four (4) students from each team will be allowed to participate.
  4. A maximum of two (2) teams from each university/institution will be allowed to participate.
  5. The quiz will be conducted in 3 rounds.
    • The preliminary/selection stage will be a written test of multiple-choice questions. The top eight (8) teams will be eligible for the qualifying/pre-final round.
    • the qualifying/pre-final stage will consist of 3 sessions of 2 rounds each.
    • The top four (4) teams from the qualifying round will enter the finals.
    • The finals will consist of 3 sessions of 2 rounds each.
  6. Details of the marking along with other rules and regulations will be announced at the conference venue.
  7. The closing date for entry is before 5th April 2019.

THEME: BRIDGING RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY TO CLINICAL DENTISTRY

Reporting Time and Arrangements : 10:30 am onwards
Judging Time : 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Presentation Duration : 7 minutes presentation + 3 minutes Q&A
Public Viewing : 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm
Venue : Level 2 Spine, Humanity Building

A table clinic is a table top – poster board display/demonstration of an exhibit /activity /project. The table clinic should encompass the latest information on any aspect of technology applicable to clinical dentistry and can be presented in the form of exhibits, models of product outcome, posters accompanied by visual aids.

GUIDELINES

  1. Only one (1) team from each institution will be allowed to compete in the event.
  2. Registration for Conference is a pre-requisite for participating in the event.
  3. Each group must consist of at least 4 and maximum of 6 members. Presentation Regulations:
    • The table clinic presentation must adhere to the theme.
    • Team members will be given the freedom to take turns in presenting and demonstrating within the assigned time allocated.
    • Participants must report to the table clinic area in the exhibit hall to set up their exhibits/posters/other related materials promptly at least 2 hours prior to the judging session.
    • Students must remain at their assigned table during the entire judging session.
    • All presenters are expected to wear formal attire.
    • Participants will be responsible for the set-up, safety, security and winding up of their respective table clinic models.
    • Students are encouraged to BE CREATIVE AND THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.
    • Only one table (180 cm L x 40 cm W x 72 cm H) will be provided for each table clinic.
    • Each group will be provided one electric socket. Students must bring along all presentation display materials and equipment e.g., table cloths, extension cords and adapters. The organizers will provide no additional equipment.
    • Charts, diagrams and display materials must be confined to the table-top. Hand-outs are allowed.
    • Amplified sound devices, heavy office equipment, patients or live models are NOT allowed.
  4. Materials shown should be related to the activity of the project and should be developed by students and their teams.
  5. Only generic identifiers are allowed. No trade names should be used in any of the display items.
  6. The formal oral presentation and/or demonstration should be made in not more than seven (7) minutes. A three-minute question-and-answer session for each team will follow. All team members should be present at their tables during their presentation time which will be assigned to you later.
  7. An open exhibition for public viewing will take place before the judging session from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. For any further enquiries, kindly e-mail ndssc2019@mahsa.edu.my

TITLE: TALENT QUEST

Rules and regulations:

A talent show will be held on the night of Gala dinner with a theme of "Asian Fiesta". It is a platform for dental students to reveal their hidden talent

  1. Registration for NDSSC 2019 is a prerequisite for every participant in this programme.
  2. Only one team from each institution will be allowed to compete in this event. Each group must consist of at least 1 and maximum of 8 members
  3. Any team that joins this competition should consist only of students who are studying in the SAME institution - any deviation will result in disqualification
  4. Each team will be given 6 minutes to perform their talent on the stage
  5. Performances should follow appropriate manners, dress code and language.
  6. Performance can be of all kinds talent in the premise of the safety of the participants and the audience.
  7. The performance will be scored for creativity, stage presence, teamwork, and entertainment value.
  8. The final result will be solely based on the judge’s decision.
  9. Deadline for entry is before 5th April 2019.
  10. If there are any audio requirements, participants must hand over these audio soft/hard copies by 19th April 2019
  11. If there is any special request regarding internet technology, kindly e-mail ndssc2019@mahsa.edu.my by 19th April 2019.

Rules and Regulations

Each entry must be based on this year’s theme: Dental Teamwork

  1. The competition is free and open to all participants who registered for NDSSC 2019. A maximum of THREE photographs can be submitted per participant.
  2. The participant must be a current student of the institution.
  3. All photos must be completed with participant’s name, university and caption with no longer than 20 words. The photos must relate to the theme of the competition.
  4. Submitted Photo must be in JPEG format, with high quality and resolution (minimum 1 MB in size).
  5. There must not be any watermarks, copyright marks or any text/graphic on the picture.
  6. To enter into the competition, all entries must be submitted online to the email address: ndssc2019events@mahsa.edu.my.
  7. Entries must be submitted by 5th April 2019.
  8. The photo/s must be taken by the participant.
  9. The copyright of all images submitted to the contest will remain with the owner who will be credited. However, each participant grants to the organizer a license to use their images in relation to the competition and the exhibition, if required.
  10. If the photo contains recognizable person, it is the duty of the participant to secure a model release from the subject or, in the case of a minor, the subject’s parent or guardian.
  11. THREE best pictures from different universities with creative caption will be selected as the winners.
  12. NDSSC 2019 reserves the right to ask for the original/RAW file and to disqualify any participant whose entry breaches any of the Rules and Regulations.
  13. NDSSC 2019 organizer reserves the right (a) to suspend or cancel the competition in its sole discretion and (b) to select winners from among all eligible entries received prior to the cancellation date. The NDSSC 2019 organizer further reserves the right to modify the rules of the competition in any way or at any time, as long as reasonable notice is given.

Rules and Regulations

Each entry must be based on this year’s theme: Humour in Dentistry

  1. The competition is free and open to all participants who registered for NDSSC 2019. A maximum of THREE videos entry can be submitted per participant.
  2. The participant must be a current student of the institution.
  3. The video must be 2 minutes or less in length. Submissions exceeding 2 minutes may be disqualified.
  4. Any spoken language used in the video that is not English must be accompanied by English subtitles.
  5. The video should not contain material that is obscene, defamatory, libelous, threatening, political, pornographic, offensive, or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, gives rise to civil liability, or violates any law (including, without limitation, the privacy or publicity rights of any individual whose likeness appears in the Video). Videos must be appropriate for viewing by the general public and by a multi-cultural community. Any entries deemed offensive will be immediately disqualified.
  6. Participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the NDSSC 2019 organizer from any third party claims arising from or related to their participation in the competition.
  7. Participants involved in this competition are liable for any copyright infringements caused by their videos.
  8. The participant is responsible to secure permission from all talent included in the video. The NDSSC 2019 organizer assumes no responsibility for royalties or fees associated with talent performances in the entered videos.
  9. The copyright of all videos submitted to the contest will remain with the owner who will be credited. However, each participant grants to the organizer a license to use their videos in relation to the competition and the exhibition, if required.
  10. To enter into the competition, all entries must be submitted in one of the formats that Youtube accepts. Participants are solely responsible to comply with YouTube terms of service and specifications for user submissions and/or video uploads.
  11. Upon uploading the video to YouTube, participant must make the video unlisted, and disable both comments and ratings.
  12. Email the link of the video to ndssc2019events@mahsa.edu.my. Entries must be submitted by 5th April 2019.
  13. An email of acknowledgement will be sent to the entrant as soon as NDSSC 2019 organizer verified the entry.
  14. No modification of the video is allowed once submitted.
  15. Entries will be judged on:
    • Relevance to the competition topic;
    • Creativity expressed;
    • Technical ability;
    • Persuasiveness of the entry.
  16. NDSSC 2019 organizer reserves the right to ask for the original/RAW file and to disqualify any participant whose entry breaches any of the Rules and Regulations.
  17. NDSSC 2019 organizer reserves the right (a) to suspend or cancel the competition in its sole discretion and (b) to select winners from among all eligible entries received prior to the cancellation date. The NDSSC 2019 organizer further reserves the right to modify the rules of the competition in any way or at any time, as long as reasonable notice is given.
