The Diploma in Civil Engineering is a 2 ½ year programme and provides students with fundamental knowledge in civil engineering concepts in structural and road construction. Students will enjoy the hands-on approach to structural engineering and infrastructure and learn civil and structural drafting skills. These technical engineering skills are highly in demand as construction projects grow across the globe.

Programme Educational Objective (PEO)

PEO Statements :
PEO 1 To produce a skillful and competent civil engineering technologist who have strong fundamental knowledge, creative, innovative and able to solve problem and execute civil engineering works.
PEO 2 To produce graduates who can work productively as Civil Engineers and able to respond and readily adapt to emerging technologies and contemporary issues that parallel with the industrial needs.
PEO 3 To produce graduates who are able to communicate technically with professional ethics, and possess great teamwork and leadership qualities on multidisciplinary teams and be leaders in our technological society that able to compete globally.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO)

ETAC Programme Outcome Statements :
PLO 1 Knowledge: Apply knowledge of applied mathematics, applied science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization as specified in DK1 to DK4 respectively to wide practical procedures and practices.
PLO 2 Problem analysis: Identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity (DK1 to DK4).
PLO 3 Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations (DK5).
PLO 4 Investigation: Conduct investigations of well-defined problems; locate and search relevant codes and catalogues, conduct standard tests and measurements.
PLO 5 Modern Tool Usage: Apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering and IT tools to well-defined engineering problems, with an awareness of the limitations (DK6).
PLO 6 The Engineer and Society: Demonstrate knowledge of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to engineering technician practice and solutions to well-defined engineering problems (DK7).
PLO 7 Environment and Sustainability: Understand and evaluate the sustainability and impact of engineering technician work in the solution of well-defined engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts (DK7).
PLO 8 Ethics: Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of technician practice.
PLO 9 Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member in diverse technical teams.
PLO 10 Communications: Communicate effectively on well-defined engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, by being able to comprehend the work of others, document their own work, and give and receive clear instructions.
PLO 11 Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member or leader in a technical team and to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments.
PLO 12 Life Long Learning: Recognize the need for, and have the ability to engage in independent updating in the context of specialized technical knowledge.

Entry Requirement

  • SPM - Pass SPM/SPMV with three credits in Mathematics, Science (Science / Technical / Vocasional) & 1 other subject pass in English

  • STPM - Pass STPM with min (CGPA: 2.00) / C in 1 subject and pass in Mathematics & English & Science / Technical/ Vocational at SPM Level

  • STAM - Pass STAM (maqbul)
    Credit in Maths in SPM level

  • 0-LEVEL - Pass O Level with Grade C in Mathematics, Science (Science / Technical / Vocasional) & 1 other subject pass in English

  • UEC - For Senior middle three (SM3) only
    Pass UEC with Grade B in Mathematics, Science (Science / Technical / Vocasional) & 1 other subject pass in English

  • Certificate - Pass certificate in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Level 3) with Min CGPA 2.00
    Pass in vocational and technical skills certificate (Level 3 KKM) with CGPA 2.00 and 1 year working experience or 1 semester bridging course, and pass SPM with 1 credit and must undergo a bridging programme for Maths if fail in Maths
    Pass in certificate SKM Level 3 or certificate from Kolej Komuniti and pass SPM with 1 credit and must undergo a bridging programme for Mathematics if fail in Maths

  • APEL - Age : 20 years & above
    Experience in related field

  • Others : Other equivalent qualification approved by the senate and the government of Malaysia

  • English Requirement Upon Entry : IELTS: 5.0
    TOEFL PBT: 500
    MUET: BAND 3
